    What this tool does

Joins several images in the order you add them into one animated GIF. You can set the frame delay, size, loop count and number of colors.

    Steps

    1. Upload several images. You can add more with the "Add more images" box under the list.
    2. Reorder them with the ↑ ↓ buttons on each row, and remove unwanted ones with ✕.
    3. Set the GIF width and height and how "Images of different sizes" are handled.
    4. Set the "Frame delay" (seconds), "Loop" and "Max colors".
    5. Press "Make GIF", check the preview below, then press "Download".

    Settings

    • Width/Height: first filled with the first image's size. With Keep aspect ratio on, the other follows using the first image's ratio.
    • Images of different sizes: choose between Fit whole image (the rest becomes background), Fill and crop the overflow, and Stretch (ignore ratio).
    • Background color / Transparent background: with transparency on, leftover space stays transparent; when off it is filled with the background color.
    • Frame delay (seconds): gives every frame the same time. It cannot be shorter than 0.02 seconds.
    • Loop: loop forever, play once, or play a set number of times.
    • Max colors and dithering: fewer colors make a smaller file; dithering reduces color banding but makes the file larger.

    How it works

Each image is drawn onto a canvas of the chosen size to make a frame, one color table shared by all frames is calculated, and the frames are encoded as a GIF. Only the parts that changed from the previous frame are stored to reduce the size. A GIF has only on/off transparency, so a semi-transparent pixel becomes transparent or opaque depending on whether it is more or less than about half transparent.

    Good to know

    • If you upload a GIF file, only its first frame is used. To edit a GIF itself, use the "Trim and Resize GIF" tool.
    • Many or large frames take time to process, and very large ones may exceed the memory limit and fail.
    • The result file is named "firstimagename_anim.gif".
    • Results are gone when you close the tab.
