What this tool does
Makes one PDF file from several images in order. Each image becomes one PDF page, and you can set the page size, margin and quality.
Steps
- Drop the images to put in the PDF or click to upload them. To add more use the "Add more images" box under the list.
- Set the page order with the ↑ ↓ buttons in the list and remove unwanted images with ✕.
- Choose the "Page size" (A4, Letter (US) or Match image size), the "Orientation" and the "Margin".
- Adjust the PDF size with "Quality" and "Max longest side".
- Press "Download PDF". After downloading, the PDF info shows the page count and file size.
Settings
- Page size: A4 is 210x297mm and Letter is 8.5x11 inch. With "Match image size" the page is the image size (at 96 DPI) plus the margin.
- Orientation: "Auto by image" uses a landscape page if the image is wider than tall. It is not chosen when the page size is "Match image size".
- Margin (mm): the image is fitted inside the area left after the margin keeping its ratio and centered. Small images are enlarged to fit.
- Quality (30-100) and Max longest side (px, 200-8000): each image is reduced with these values and JPEG-compressed. Lower values make a smaller PDF. A max longest side below 200 is treated as 200.
How it works
Each image is drawn on a white canvas and JPEG-compressed, and those JPEG bytes are put into the PDF as an image object (DCTDecode) as is. For each page the paper size and image position are calculated and the PDF 1.4 structure (catalog, pages, content, images, cross-reference table) is written directly. No external PDF library is used and everything is processed inside the browser.
Good to know
- Images are stored JPEG-compressed and transparent parts become white.
- Only images whose long side exceeds "Max longest side" are reduced. Small images are not enlarged by the setting; they are only placed on the page.
- The file name is the first image's name, with "_etc" added if there are several.
- This tool does not support the workbench (because the result is a PDF).
