For JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF the image data is not touched; only metadata (shooting info, location, comments) is filtered out, so there is no quality loss. Other formats are re-saved as PNG. Detailed info view supports JPG EXIF only.

    How to use

    1. Upload photos (several allowed).
    2. Use "View info" to check the shooting info and location.
    3. Press Remove metadata and download each file or a ZIP.

    What this tool does

Shows the shooting info and GPS location stored in a photo and removes only the metadata, leaving the image as is. It prevents location data from leaking when you share a photo.

    Steps

    1. Upload photos. You can upload many at once and add more with the "Add more images" box under the list.
    2. Press "View info" in the list to check the shooting info and GPS location. Photos with a location are shown in red.
    3. Decide whether to keep the color profile. The default is to keep it.
    4. Press "Remove metadata". When done each row shows "original size → result size" and a download button.
    5. Download one by one, or if at least 2 succeeded use "Download all as ZIP".

    Settings

    • Keep color profile (ICC): when on the color profile is kept. When off it is removed too.
    • View info: reads only JPG EXIF and shows make, model, software, date taken, lens, exposure, aperture, ISO, focal length, orientation and GPS.

    How it works

For JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF the image is not recompressed; only the metadata parts are filtered out of the file bytes, so there is no quality loss. JPG removes EXIF and XMP (APP1), IPTC (APP13) and comments (COM), PNG removes the text, time and EXIF chunks (tEXt, zTXt, iTXt, tIME, eXIf), WebP removes the EXIF and XMP chunks and recalculates the size and flags, and GIF removes comments and application extensions other than the loop count. Turning off "Keep color profile" removes the ICC data too. The file type is decided from the file contents, not the extension. Photos in other formats (such as BMP) are redrawn on a canvas and saved as PNG, which naturally drops the metadata.

    Good to know

    • "has metadata / no metadata", the GPS mark and View info in the list are based on JPG EXIF. Other formats are simply cleaned regardless of what is shown.
    • Result files are named "originalname_clean.extension".
    • Results are gone when you close the tab.
