What this tool does

Puts text or a logo image on an image or GIF for watermarks, captions and copyright marks. Adjust the position, size, rotation and opacity while checking the preview.

Steps

  1. Upload an image or GIF.
  2. Under "Type" choose text or a logo image.
  3. For text set the content, font, size, color and outline. For a logo pick the file with "Choose logo image" and set its size.
  4. In the lower panel set the position (9 spots), margin, rotation and opacity. The preview updates immediately.
  5. Choose the format and quality and press "Download". To continue in another tool press "Send to workbench".

Settings

  • Size (text): a percentage of the image width. With 6 the text height is about 6% of the image width and looks the same on larger images.
  • Outline: a line in a contrasting color around the text so it reads on any background. Width 0 means none.
  • Logo size: the logo width as a percentage of the image width; the height follows the original ratio.
  • Position and margin: pick one of 9 spots and set the distance from the edge as the margin (px). The margin does not apply along the centered direction.
  • Rotation: rotates around the text or logo's own center from -360 to 360 degrees.
  • Opacity: 10-100%. Lower values are fainter.

How it works

The original image is drawn on a browser canvas, then the text (outline first, then fill, with the chosen weight, font and size) or the logo is drawn at the calculated position, moved to its center point, rotated and given the opacity. The result has the same size as the original. A GIF is decoded into full composited frames, the same overlay is drawn on each frame and it is encoded to a GIF again.

Good to know

  • Fonts come from your device. A font that is not installed is replaced by a similar default font when drawn. The saved result is exactly what was drawn.
  • If the text is empty, or the type is logo and no logo is chosen, nothing is drawn.
  • JPG has no transparency so transparent areas become white. A GIF does not keep the original loop count and is saved to loop forever.
  • Your work is gone when you close the tab.
